2. The consistent mistakes

It’s one thing to have a game filled with mistakes. It’s another to have a season filled with them. The Denver Broncos are setting the bar high for what not to do in the NFL when you are trying to win games.

Whether players are not lined up correctly offensively or on special teams, whether the offense or special teams are turning the football over, whether it’s penalties, or whatever the case may be, the Broncos are simply a disaster and they can’t get out of their own way.

Against the Patriots, the Broncos defense forced a three-and-out on New England’s first series. Isaiah McKenzie, who had fumbled on four punts prior to this game, attempted to field a punt with a Patriots player bearing down.

What happened on this particular play, you ask?

McKenzie fumbled for the fifth time on punt returns this season. His presence returning punts is inexplicable when you consider the comedy of errors that has been the start to his rookie season back there, despite his big play ability.

The Broncos are trying to make sure McKenzie gets a chance to make plays, but if the guy isn’t catching punts, you have to go to another option.
