Denver Broncos Earn a Birth in Super Bowl 50

This should come as no surprise to fans. But this was voted as the best Broncos vs. Patriots moment of all time. A birth to Super Bowl 50 was on the line. The Broncos were looking to make it two trips to the big game in three years. The Patriots were looking to get back for the second year in a row. Game on.

The Denver Broncos took advantage early with a Peyton Manning touchdown pass to Owen Daniels. The Patriots would respond after recovering a fumble. However, a missed PAT would end up setting the tone for the entire game. Not to mention it made a huge difference in the game.

The Broncos entered halftime leading. But we all knew it was far from over. New England made things interesting throughout the second half. With Denver leading 20-12 after the two minute warning, the ball was in Tom Brady’s court. On what could have been the deciding down on the play, Brady completed a touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski to make the score 20-18. Needing a two to tie, the Broncos took a timeout. This was to formulate a plan and to get Demarcus Ware some time to rest.

It proved to help. Ware rushed Brady, who tried to get it to Julian Edelman. However, Aqib Talib tipped the ball away from Edelman and into the hands of Bradley Roby. The Broncos would recover the onside kick and punch their ticket to Super Bowl 50, where they would beat the Carolina Panthers for their third Super Bowl title.
