Third Round, 73rd Overall: Josey Jewell, Inside Linebacker, Iowa

The lone defensive player in this three round mock draft. Denver is going to need some help at the inside linebacker position. This is a unit that has struggled to cover the running backs and especially the tight ends on passing plays.

Countless times this season and last I saw the Broncos beat by the tight end or a running back catching a pass in the backfield. The team needs to address an inside linebacker that can stop the run and protect against the pass.

Todd Davis is in the final year of his contract. I highly believe how he performs during the second half of the year could determine if he is retained. If Elway believes he can find someone other than Davis, then perhaps Josey Jewell could be a name to look out for in the draft.

I have seen limited film from him, but his ability to find the ball carrier and take him down can really help against the run. And the way he performs against receivers that run across the middle of the field is great too. If he can help out on defense when it comes to passing plays, he could be a solid contributor to the team.
