The key to victory for the Denver Broncos has been a seemingly impossible task. How can they go into Philadelphia and beat the Eagles?

The Denver Broncos are out to accomplish a seemingly impossible task this weekend in Philadelphia. Is it beating the Eagles?

No. That’s entirely possible.

Is it simply winning in general? As funny of a joke as that is at this point, no.

No, the impossible task for the Denver Broncos this weekend against the Philadelphia Eagles is this:

Committing zero turnovers.

That’s a tall order for a team that ranks second-to-last in the NFL right now with a -11 turnover margin in seven games this season, an astounding number for a team that once had legitimate championship aspirations.

Even with the coaching changes in Denver, the roster turnover, and the uncertainty on the offensive line and at quarterback, the fact that the Broncos have one of the best and most feared defenses in the NFL remains.

That defense is capable of carrying the Broncos a long, long way, but they haven’t been able to overcome the ineptitude of the offensive side of the ball through the first seven games of the season.

The offense is giving the ball away at an alarming rate, and the defense can’t keep up.

Which leads us to the key to victory against Philadelphia — don’t turn the ball over.

As a matter of fact, just winning the turnover battle would be interesting to see, as the Broncos are the worst team in the NFL this season with a turnover margin per game of -1.6.

Get in the green.

The reason this task is nearly impossible?

Well, first of all, the Broncos have gotten creative this year in finding ways to give the ball away to the other team. It’s not just Trevor Siemian literally throwing the ball directly at defenders, but it’s offensive players tipping passes into the air and into the waiting arms of defenders as well. It’s running backs and receivers fumbling the ball and Isaiah McKenzie not concentrating on catching punts.

Not turning the ball over offensively is going to take a significant group effort from the Denver Broncos, but the team has made one very necessary change in progressing toward that goal.

Brock Osweiler will take the ball at the quarterback position, which — irrational as it may be — has given some Broncos fans hope that this game will turn around the entire season.

It would certainly do that.

Beating the best team in the NFL on their home field would certainly go a long way to at least confusing a lot of people, who have seen the Broncos look like the best team in the league at times this season (weeks one and two) and the worst team at times (past three weeks).

What are the Broncos?

Maybe a better question is — what are the Broncos when they don’t turn the ball over?

Vance Joseph talked about how he would be interested to find out the answer to that question, and I think we all would.

Can the Broncos do it?

If they can, they just might shock the NFL world.
