The Eagles are the best team in the league. What would you say has made them so successful this season?

The hope was Philadelphia could make the jump in year two of the Doug Pederson/Carson Wentz era. We all thought that could happen offensively with the addition of LeGarrette Blount, Alshon Jeffery and Torrey Smith. I mean, Wentz set a record for completions as a rookie with nothing around him. He obviously had to improve with better companion pieces and another year in the offense right?

Then there was the draft and a few more key pieces that were added on defense. The Eagles asked some young guys to step in and play immediately a season ago, and that experience has paid dividends. Some of the unfortunate injuries, Ronald Darby for instance, forced some young guys into action and we’ve learned we can depend on some of these new guys.

This team is young and talented. They’ll be together for a while. Better days are ahead in Philly.

Carson Wentz has been playing solid football. Tell us what he has done to improve his game from year one?

Well, the first thing he did was hire a throwing coach, Adam Deadeaux, to help with his mechanics. If there was any real weakness, it was his deep ball. That’s gotten better some. Then, as Wentz said himself, the additional year of development has helped. In his words, the game “is slowing down some”.

He’s trusting the play calls. He’s going through his progressions. For the most part, the proper reads have been made. He’s missed a few open receivers by his own admission, but even that should get cleared up over time. Apparently, Philly would have taken Wentz whether they had the first or second selection in the most recent draft.

Judging by the looks of things, they made a wise choice.
