Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Chad Kelly alluded to a potential return to the practice field with his tweet on Tuesday…
While Denver Broncos fans lament the third straight loss in their past three games, rookie quarterback Chad Kelly hinted at a potential return to the practice field on his Twitter account.
Kelly has been on the Non-Football Injury list due to a couple of injuries he suffered while at Ole Miss, and per league rules, hasn’t been able to practice with the team.
As soon as Kelly practices, the Broncos will have 21 days to decide whether they want him on injured reserve or the active roster to finish out the season.
Here’s Kelly’s tweet:

Since the Broncos didn’t practice today, it stands to reason that Kelly means he’s ‘back at it’ on the practice field starting Wednesday. That would give the Broncos 21 days (Wednesday, November 21st) to decide what to do longer-term with Kelly, whether that’s the 53 man roster or the injured reserve list.
It would be very interesting to see what Kelly can do in practice, and how the Broncos approach his future with the team. We’ve been wondering when he would return to practice, and if indeed tomorrow is the day, he would have time to prepare for three different games (Eagles, Patriots, Bengals) before the Broncos have to make a decision the week they play on the road in Oakland.

We may be overthinking it, but there’s got to be a reason the Broncos didn’t just put Kelly on IR to begin with. He’s going to likely get a chance to practice and compete at some point, but whether or not it’s this season remains to be seen.
There were rumors that Kelly was staying after practice last week with practice squad receivers, dropping dimes and making 70 yard passes look easy.
Of course, when doing that on air, it’s not the same as doing it in an NFL game.
With the way Trevor Siemian has played this year, however, any positive developments with quarterbacks on the Broncos’ roster are welcomed.
This week against the Eagles, Brock Osweiler is rumored to be the starting quarterback. He could simply be holding down the fort for former first round pick Paxton Lynch, but the more the Broncos lose, the more sense it makes for them to try and see every player they have on the roster at the quarterback position.
Perhaps Kelly will get his chance soon.
