Trevor Siemian and the Denver Broncos’ offense were unbearable in their third consecutive loss of the season, this one to the Chiefs…

The Denver Broncos have sadly lost their third straight game, this one at the hands of the first-place Kansas City Chiefs, and it was again a horrendous night for quarterback Trevor Siemian.

Siemian didn’t light the dumpster fire that was the Broncos’ offense on this night, but he poured plenty of gasoline on it.

The Broncos appeared on track for competence offensively in this game as Jamaal Charles was gashing his former team early in the game, until he fumbled the ball which was recovered by Marcus Peters and returned for the game’s first touchdown.

A breakdown in coverage by Darian Stewart on Travis Kelce on the next Chiefs drive put the Broncos in a 14-0 hole, and from there it was damage control for the defense.

The Chiefs were set up with great field position, looking to go up 21-0, and Darian Stewart intercepted a pass from Tyreek Hill on a trick play. The Broncos drove the ball down the field and wound up scoring their first points since they played the New York Giants, a field goal from Brandon McManus.

The Chiefs answered with a field goal of their own, and the Broncos were able to get this game as close as 20-13 before more mistakes haunted the offense.

In all, the Broncos turned the ball over five times in this game — three interceptions by Trevor Siemian, a muffed punt by Isaiah McKenzie, and the aforementioned fumble by Jamaal Charles. That doesn’t include a turnover on downs when the Broncos had a chance to creep back into the game.

Simply put, this offense is being held back by quarterback play, and it’s a wonder that Vance Joseph either fails to see that, or simply doesn’t want to concede it at this point.

Trevor Siemian is struggling badly, and is the number one reason why the offense has no rhythm. He’s not executing basic plays, he’s missing open receivers, and he’s throwing the ball directly at defensive backs.

If you didn’t watch the game, we’ll have a further breakdown on the quarterback position, detailing exactly what went wrong for Siemian in this game, but the proof is in the numbers.

With a garbage time touchdown figured in, as well as some passes against prevent defense at the close of the game, Siemian managed to complete just under 53 percent of his passes in this game. It was the lowest completion percentage he had all season.

He also threw a season-high three interceptions, and just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, it really has.

These issues are only correctible if Siemian simply learns to make better decisions, and right now, he has regressed in that area every single week.

The running game was excellent in this game, and the pass protection held up the majority of the time.

Now at 3-4 this season, the Broncos are running out of time to salvage the season. They are still in the thick of things with other struggling teams in the AFC West, but the Chiefs are pulling ahead and now have an advantage in the head-to-head department.

The Broncos’ road trip continues with the Eagles next week, and the Patriots after that.
