Duane Brown, Houston Texans

Duane Brown, not happy with his current contract, is currently forfeiting game checks in protest.

Brown’s current deal is set to expire after the 2018 season, where he will become an unrestricted free agent. His holdout was expected to last this long, and in fact, he’s not expected back until week eight at the earliest.

The Texans would probably love to have him back, but there may be irreparable damage done there. Houston doesn’t have to give him a new contract, but perhaps the Broncos and their connection (Gary Kubiak) in the front office to Houston could be utilized here to get the former first rounder to Denver.

Brown has been a top flight tackle in this league for a long, long time, and allowed just one sack last season.

The Broncos would have to pay not only in terms of a draft pick here, but also extending Brown’s contract and paying him what he wants. Otherwise, he’d probably sooner get it from someone else.
