Menelik Watson’s performance for the first four games have not looked pretty. It it time for the Broncos to look at Allen Barbre to start?

After the first four games to start the season, the Denver Broncos offensive line has looked pretty solid. It has helped rejuvenate the running game and has done alright for pass protection. There is just one issue.

Menelik Watson in pass protection. The Broncos goal during the offseason was to do better at the tackle position. Garett Bolles has looked like a stud at the left tackle spot. Now it is the right tackle position that needs work.

Do not get me wrong, Menelik Watson is solid when it comes to running the ball. But when it comes to the passing game, Watson has had difficulties protecting Trevor Siemian. I am winning to give him some kind of pass since he has had to go up against Melvin Ingram, Demarcus Lawrence, and Khalil Mack to name some.

I suppose I was hoping that he would improve going up against some top talent. But perhaps Vance Joseph could look at improving the line at that spot.

When Garett Bolles got hurt against Dallas, Allen Barbre did a solid job when he was called upon. Maybe the Broncos can try him out at right tackle? At least for pass protection.

It gets pretty old seeing the same song and dance when the line cannot protect the quarterback. I can understand when players have off games, but it seems Watson is getting pushed around consistently.

I believe Allen Barbre could be a solid addition to pass protection for the Denver Broncos. Especially if he can give Trevor Siemian some time to find that second and third receiver.

However Vance Joseph wants to do it, the Denver Broncos need to fix the issues at right tackle one way or another.
