Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons took flight at the end of the team’s 16-10 win over the Oakland Raiders for an impressive interception…

The Denver Broncos are no strangers to drama at the end of football games, so it shouldn’t have come as a surprise that it took a crazy play by Justin Simmons to seal a week four win against the Oakland Raiders.

As we wrote on Sunday, this game wasn’t the prettiest overall by the Broncos, but man is it fun to be on the victorious side of these types of games.

As the Oakland Raiders were on their final drive of the game, looking to score a touchdown and steal a victory, Simmons had other plans.

It hasn’t been the greatest start to the season for Simmons, who is taking over a starting job after the Broncos cut ties with veteran T.J. Ward, but this was his best game of the year and he capped it off in style.

At the end of that highlight, you can hear (almost Broncos QB) Tony Romo talking about Simmons’ athleticism, and he’s absolutely right. As far as pound for pound athleticism, at least as far as what you can measure, there aren’t many guys in the NFL that have a better overall makeup than Simmons.

Here’s a post we wrote last Summer after Simmons was drafted by the Broncos, which talks about him having one of the highest SPARQ scores of any safety in last year’s draft, and any player in general.

This is the type of confidence-building play that can change a season around for a guy like Simmons. He has been out of position a number of times, but he read this play like a book and went up and made arguably the biggest play of his young career.

To date, this is Simmons’ third interception at the NFL level, his first of the season. He has started all four games this season and started three as a rookie with 13 games played overall.
