Denver Broncos mock draft: Upgrading the offense again

The Denver Broncos have used two consecutive first round draft picks on offensive players, and it’s not out of the question for them to make it three…

The Denver Broncos have to act as quickly as possible with some of their most valuable offseason assets to improve the offensive side of the football. In this 2018 Denver Broncos mock draft exercise, we’re not just looking at players that are specific fits, but positions the team should look to address in the coming offseason.

Every offseason, you can only allocate so many resources to certain areas of the team, and the Broncos have generally done a really good job — thanks to John Elway and his staff in the front office — of putting together the best roster to compete, as he says, ‘from now on’.

The title hopes of the Broncos were dashed last year after a perfect storm of events. Peyton Manning left, Brock Osweiler left, and about 20 other players departed while the Broncos were left piecing together a roster.

A team that had just won the Super Bowl went through a significant makeover, and they couldn’t get everything in place in time before missing the playoffs at 9-7.

In the 2017 offseason, the Broncos fixed some critical issues, namely the interior offensive line (signing Ron Leary) and left tackle position (drafting Garett Bolles). They also brought in some players that have helped improve last year’s 28th ranked run defense.

With all the moves the Broncos have made in recent years, this team is finally starting to gain some momentum on both sides of the ball again. Two of the first three games in 2017 have been excellent, save for some ugly turnovers.

The Broncos have been executing fairly well on offense and defense under their new coaching staff, but still have some areas that could stand to be improved. Let’s take a look at a mock draft scenario that could help keep this team in contention…
