2. Soft defense

There were some major errors defensively for the Broncos in this game, and the Bills made them pay.

The Broncos aren’t usually prone to giving up big plays in the passing game, but this game was an exception. Denver allowed Tyrod Taylor to find receivers downfield throughout the game, and he made them pay with only six incomplete passes and two touchdown throws, no interceptions.

A couple of the big plays Taylor made downfield were breakdowns in coverage, and others were simply poor tackling and poor angles by the Broncos.

The Broncos did their job defending the run in this game, but critical errors in coverage and bad penalties defensively cost them in this game.

The defense was not its usual stingy self in this game, and the result was costly.

Denver’s defense has to — and will — play much better than this in similar road situations. The Broncos have proven they can win big at home. Now they have to take care of business when the matchup favors them on the road.
