Denver Broncos: Behind Enemy Lines with The Landry Hat
By Tylor Walden
PO: Dak Prescott must be one of the most interesting quarterback’s in the NFL today. What do you believe makes him such a great player with just a year under his belt?
TLH: It’s Prescott’s intangibles. His work ethic, leadership and character. NFL scouts can’t evaluate that. Combine that passion and will with his size, arm, and athleticism – and you have a rare and special talent under center. Make no mistake, the Cowboys lucked into drafting Dak late year late in the fourth round. So even they underestimated his abilities. The Cowboys tried to trade back into the first round for Paxton Lynch after all.
The main difference between Prescott as a rookie and what the Broncos will see on Sunday is his knowledge of the game. Last offseason, Dak was the third string quarterback behind Tony Romo and Kellen Moore. His practice time with the first team offensive was very limited. Even into the regular season, Prescott’s playbook package was condensed due to that fact. As the hands down starter this offseason, the 24-year old has made a significant jump in his knowledge of the playbook. You can tell by his pre-snap changes, Dak has a much bigger understanding of what he’s seeing out there.
