Steven Kriz: Broncos 27, Chargers 13

GAME PREDICTION

This should be a fun matchup between the Denver Broncos, and the newly annointed Los Angeles Chargers.  The Broncos are 16-1 over their past 17 home openers. The only loss was back in 2011 to the Raiders.  This game does have some similarities to that one, however, as the Broncos have a new head coach, and are opening up on a late Monday night game versus a divisional opponent.

The Chargers have not had much luck in recent years in Denver, with their last win coming back in 2013.  Look for the Broncos to come out firing on offense, as they appeared to have played very vanilla during the preseason.  Mike McCoy has a history of tailoring great game plans, and knows no team better than the Chargers whom he coached from 2013-2016.

Look for the Broncos to come out hot this one and open up a 10-0 lead in the first quarter.  The Chargers will make a second quarter rally to to tie the game at 10.  However, Denver should pull away in the third quarter behind Jamaal Charles and an Emmanuel Sanders deep touchdown pass.

BOLD PREDICTION

Jamaal Charles will come in as a change of pace back and completely alter the course of this game.  Charles has spent the entirety of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, and therefore knows the Chargers better than just about anyone.  Look for a big game from Charles.

I am predicting a stat line of 7 carries for 65 yards, and 4 catches for 42 yards and one passing TD.  He should add the perfect compliment to C.J. Anderson and allow the Broncos to control the run game, freeing things up for Trevor Siemian to have a solid night in the air as well.
