GAME PREDICTION

Phillip Rivers can slang that rock, but luckily that plays into the strengths of the new “No Fly Zone”. The x-factor here is really going to be whether or not the Broncos defense can handle Melvin Gordon in the run game.

We saw what Kansas City running back Kareem Hunt did to the Patriots, and Gordon can be just as dynamic if left unchecked. My belief is that captain Von Miller and the crew will handle their business unlike New England (especially in the secondary).

Hopefully, the offense won’t be as conservative as in recent years – and with a revitalized run game – everybody will get to shine on offense. Look for Trevor Siemian to take the reigns with a juiced up backfield and a stout offensive line.

BOLD PREDICTION

“WHO DAT BOY, WHO DEM IS?” Good question, Tyler, the Creator. In this case, “DAT BOY” be Von Miller, and “DEM IS” the Broncos defense. With Derek Wolfe returning, Domata Peko in the middle, Shaq Barrett back and the new “No Fly” feat. Justin Simmons at safety, Von Miller will have more opportunities to rush Rivers with the Chargers having their hands full.

And if 30 sacks is indeed “doable”, Miller has to come away with at least three sacks Week 1. And since he’s the best,  and Kansas City’s Justin Houston racked up three sacks against Tom Brady, I’m betting on Miller to put up 3.5 on Rivers – Captain Crunch baby!
