The Denver Broncos waived nose tackle Kyle Peko on Saturday, and could call up rookie nose tackle Tyrique Jarrett from the practice squad…
The Denver Broncos are hurting on the defensive line heading into their first game of the season against the Los Angeles Chargers. Every player on the depth chart along the defensive line except for Domata Peko and Shelby Harris was listed on the injury report at some point or another this week. Among those on the injury report was nose tackle Kyle Peko, who was waived on Saturday:
Broncos have waived NT Kyle Peko. Would anticipate them making a corresponding move by Monday's game.

Considering the fact that Zach Kerr and Jared Crick are also out for this game, that leaves the Broncos with Derek Wolfe, Domata Peko, Adam Gotsis, and Shelby Harris available for Monday’s game against the Chargers.
Even if one of Kerr or Crick were healthy, the Broncos would be thin at the nose tackle position.

Thus, it’s reasonable to expect the Broncos to make a roster move along the defensive line, specifically on the interior. Tyrique Jarrett, who’s on the team’s practice squad and has been practicing all week, seems to be a logical fit.
If the Broncos don’t promote Jarrett, they could look at veteran Ahtyba Rubin, who was the subject of some trade rumors at the time rosters were being cut down to 53 players.
Jarrett is a mountain of a man who also has some quickness and deceptive athleticism. He’s very active for his size and is capable of plugging up the running game from the nose tackle position.
One way or another, the Broncos will make a roster move to fill the 53rd spot on the team with someone who can contribute as early as Monday night. That player isn’t going to have to come in and do anything complicated, except line up in a gap and make plays as a backup.
Still, in case of injury, that position could be very important and since the run defense was a weakness last year, it’s a shame the Broncos are starting off without two key contributors up front.
