The Denver Broncos players voted for team captains, and among those selected to represent the team are QB Trevor Siemian and LB Von Miller…

Denver Broncos players voted for team captains, and Vance Joseph revealed that starting quarterback Trevor Siemian and Von Miller are among the selections after practice on Wednesday:

As you can see here, along with Siemian and Miller, the Broncos voted Aqib Talib, Demaryius Thomas, and Brandon McManus as team captains.

Siemian is clearly gaining more and more respect among his teammates, and rightly so. Last season, he was a first-year starter and was forced to play through a shoulder injury on his non-throwing arm that clearly affected his play. He wasn’t perfect even when fully healthy but the coaching staff last season didn’t properly let his shoulder heal, and it was a major hindrance to Siemian’s game.

Prior to his injury, Siemian had seemingly won over his teammates, in particular after a big win on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals. Siemian threw four touchdown passes in that game amidst much scrutiny from the outside, and his teammates were shown after the game congratulating him and celebrating with him.

Since that time, Siemian has once again won the starting quarterback competition in Denver. The team opened things up for Paxton Lynch hoping that he would make a big leap in year two, but that didn’t happen and Siemian looked like a seasoned veteran in comparison.

That has a lot to do with the way Siemian prepares off the field, and how he approaches the game in terms of preparation. Siemian is not immune to mistakes, but he’s come a long way since being drafted in 2015 recovering from a torn ACL in the seventh round.

This will be the first year Siemian wears the captain’s ‘C’ on his chest, and hopefully it will also be a year where we see big time improvement in his game.
