Jamal Carter was given the highest signing bonus of any Denver Broncos undrafted rookie free agent this year, and he made good on the investment.

John Elway praised the scouting department of the Broncos for finding this kid and the coaching staff also did a very good job of putting him in position to be successful.

The Broncos utilized Carter as more of a linebacker than a safety during the preseason, and there’s definitely some talk that he was part of the reason the team felt good about letting go of T.J. Ward and freeing up $4.5 million in cap space.

Carter continues the great Bronco tradition of undrafted players proving themselves and making the final squad, and it will be interesting to see how he’s used. With his athleticism and size, he looks like the ideal special teams ace.
