6 Chad Kelly, QB

The Broncos didn’t project Chad Kelly to be ready until August or September when they initially drafted him with the last pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, and as it turns out, he’s still not ready.

Kelly was placed on the non-football injury list like his teammate Jake Butt, and is dealing with a couple of different injuries. He hurt his knee while playing his senior season at Ole Miss, and then injured his wrist getting ready for pre-draft workouts.

The Broncos had hoped to see him at some point before the preseason ended, but that turned out to be wishful thinking.

Kelly will be available as an emergency option at the quarterback position this season, but how the Broncos approach his situation will be very interesting. They obviously want to see him on the practice field, but there are three quarterbacks on the active roster already.

We’ll see how this plays out, but don’t be surprised if Paxton Lynch goes to IR at some point, and Chad Kelly takes his place on the active roster to get some reps in practice.
