1. Miami Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins know Denver Broncos head coach Vance Joseph very well. This is an interesting potential destination for Ward.

Miami could be looking at a situation where they are very thin both at inside linebacker as well as safety with Raekwon McMillan going down with a knee injury, and T.J. McDonald suspended to start the season.

Ward could help fill both holes a little bit, playing a hybrid linebacker/safety role. Someone suggested this trade on Twitter on Tuesday, and I love it:

The idea seems too good to be true or potentially happen, but it would be very interesting from Denver’s perspective. This would give the Broncos a very good slot receiver and allow them to keep Emmanuel Sanders on the outside along with Demaryius Thomas.

It would also buy them some time with Carlos Henderson, who is dealing with a thumb injury and could miss the season.

The Broncos are very deep at receiver, but Landry would be a one-year rental and then you could get the compensatory pick for him in 2019 if he bolts in 2018 for big money.

This way, the Broncos get the best possible value for Ward both now and into the future.

But again, it doesn’t seem likely to happen. Miami has taken a public stance against trading Landry. Still, with rumors he could be on the block, Denver could make a very enticing offer to the Dolphins to get them potentially to bite.
