CHICAGO, IL – AUGUST 10: Mitch Unrein #98 of the Chicago Bears rushes against Garett Bolles #72 of the Denver Broncos /

OFFENSIVE LINE: 9 (25)

TACKLE: Garett Bolles, Menelik Watson, Ty Sambrailo, Donald Stephenson

GUARD: Max Garcia, Ron Leary, Billy Turner

CENTER: Matt Paradis, Connor McGovern

TRADED: Michael Schofield

Practice Squad: Dillon Day, Justin Murray

CUT: Allen Barbre, Elijah Wilkinson, Cameron Hunt, Cedrick Lang

Here’s a few things about the offensive line.

1. If the Broncos can’t trade Ty Sambrailo, I don’t see them cutting him. There’s not much to gain from that, except cutting bait on a ‘failed’ draft pick with two years left on his rookie deal.

2. If Michael Schofield isn’t traded either, I think there’s a decent chance the Broncos try to trade Garcia instead, and keep Schofield on the active roster.

3. If Allen Barbre is not the starting left guard, I don’t think he makes the team.

Why is Connor McGovern not being given a shot at the starting left guard position? Garcia and Barbre have not played above replacement level, for the most part. Garcia’s embarrassing play against Mike Daniels of Green Bay was all the evidence needed to put someone else in that position, and McGovern doesn’t seem like he’ll get pushed around, at the very least.

This coaching staff seems to really like Billy Turner, so I think he sticks around as a guard who can play tackle in emergency situations.

Donald Stephenson restructured his contract, so he’s going to stick around one more season as a swing tackle.
