Denver Broncos 53-man roster predictions and analysis
RUNNING BACK/FULLBACK: 5 (7) — C.J. Anderson, Jamaal Charles, Devontae Booker, De’Angelo Henderson, Andy Janovich (FB)
Practice Squad: Boom Williams
Cut: Stevan Ridley, Juwan Thompson
This is going to be a tough one, but at the same time, it seems pretty straight forward. The Broncos have six backs that are worthy of being on an NFL roster right now.
The biggest question is what will happen with Stevan Ridley and Juwan Thompson? Will the Broncos let them go outright, or will they be able to trade them to some other team?
In all likelihood, we’ll see mostly Ridley, Thomspon, and Boom Williams in the fourth preseason game. It’ll be an audition for all three guys for other NFL teams, and also for Williams it’ll be his shot to prove he’s worth developing on the practice squad.
I think this is what will ultimately happen, and it’s going to be tough because Thompson has given the Broncos some great games and contributions as a runner and special teams player.
Ridley has had a strong training camp and couple of preseason games. He’s an established runner in the league and has put good enough film out that he could help a team in need of running back help this season with their depth.
