SAFETY: 5 (50) — Darian Stewart, T.J. Ward, Justin Simmons, Will Parks, Jamal Carter

Practice Squad: Dymonte Thomas, Orion Stewart

CUT: Dante Barnett

Here’s where things could get a little interesting.

The Broncos have a really good group of undrafted safeties this year, led by Jamal Carter, Orion Stewart, and Dymonte Thomas.

Carter has the potential to play a little linebacker and safety, which is part of the reason why I kept only three inside linebackers in this projection. In fact, the Broncos have used Carter more at linebacker this preseason than they have at safety, and he’s been more productive against the run than Zaire Anderson.

Thomas and Stewart have both been strong this preseason, Thomas being the surprise of the two. Pro Football Focus has given him positive grades both in coverage and against the run.

Stewart is a ball-hawk capable of delivering big hits. I think he has legitimate starting potential if he can clean up his technique and be more consistent on the back end. He’s perhaps the Broncos’ diamond in the rough, here.
