After a stellar performance against the Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos running back Jamaal Charles made the roster, Vance Joseph announced after the game.

Jamaal Charles ran like a wild Bronco out of the stable ready to roll in the Denver Broncos’ preseason win versus the Green Bay Packers. Charles made the necessary cuts and explosive plays, and has officially made the roster.

This was the biggest factor heading into the game, and Charles passed with flying colors.

Head coach Vance Joseph made the announcement Charles will be there for Los Angeles Chargers opener.

Joseph liked what he saw from Charles.

"“I thought Jamaal was impressive. I mean, he hadn’t played football in almost a year and a half. To take the contact, to find the open space the way he did, he caught the ball well, his protections were good, so I was impressed with Jamaal. I was hoping he’d look like that tonight, so I was pleased.”Vance Joseph"

It is now established if the Broncos’ newfound running attack improves, the team will see much more success in 2017. Charles rushed for 27 yards on four carries, while providing punch in the passing game with another 15 yards. The 42 total yards is low. But the Broncos utilized Charles in Mike McCoy’s system the exact way some envisioned.

The Broncos used routes out of the backfield and outside runs to get Charles into open space.

At one point in the game, Charles looked like a better option than CJ Anderson. He looked like he was back to his former special self for one game. Injuries have plagued Charles in recent years, and for a moment he gave us all a collective scare.

Charles’ run was terrific, but he seemed to encounter a significant injury. He was later evaluated for a concussion. Broncos Country held their breath, but Charles would later return.

One aspect of Charles’ game tonight might go unnoticed. Charles provided pass protection on a couple plays. Ignore the incompletion, but it’s hard to argue if Charles made the team on this play alone.

Charles exuded confidence ever since he joined the Broncos. The swagger and “chip on the shoulder” mentality bodes well for player of his caliber. The Broncos have been searching for another vocal leader on offense. Charles can be that piece players lean on in time of need.
