After cutting Bernard Pierce from the team, the Denver Broncos moved quick to replace him, claiming former Bengal RB Stanley Williams off waivers.

The Denver Broncos running back competition has been very intriguing. With names like C.J. Anderson, Jamaal Charles, and Devontae Booker on the roster, this could be a solid corp going into the 2017 season. Denver added another running back to the mix.

After the Denver Broncos parted ways with running back Bernard Pierce, the team went to the waiver wire and claimed former undrafted free agent Stanley “Boom” Williams. Williams was on the Cincinnati Bengals training camp roster this preseason.

Stanley Williams played college ball at the University of Kentucky. During his career, he recorded over 2.500 yards and 18 touchdowns. He stands at five feet, seven inches tall. That is somewhat small for a running back.

I see him being nothing more than a camp body. Despite the injury to Devontae Booker, I do not think the signing will be much of an impact. However, I probably see him as a practice squad candidate if he can show his skills and potential in the final two preseason games.

Bernard Pierce was a long shot to make the roster. The injury that he is dealing with did not help his chances at all. In my opinion, I do believe that the running back positions are all taken care of, except for one spot.

Jamaal Charles has yet to show the Broncos what he can do. If he shows his skills against the Packers, I believe he will be the final running back. If not, the fourth preseason game will determine that.

This is where I could see Stanley Williams making an impact. Do well in these final two games, and a roster spot might be his. But at this point, I could see the practice squad in his future.
