Trevor Siemian was the backup for Paxton Lynch in the Denver Broncos’ second preseason game against the 49ers. How did he do with the second team?

With the Denver Broncos leading the San Francisco 49ers 13-0, Trevor Siemian took over after the Broncos defense forced another turnover. How would Siemian perform with the second team?

He sure looked like he should be a starting quarterback after his performance for about one quarter. And his two minute drill looked nothing short of amazing. In his second preseason game of 2017, he went 8 for 11 for 93 yards and threw an amazing touchdown strike to Jordan Taylor as the first half was closing in.

The touchdown strike gave the Denver Broncos a 20-0 lead going into the half. It also proved to be the game winner. As far as Trevor Siemian, he looked really sharp in his second preseason game. This game was led by the defense, which forced five 49ers turnovers.

Let us take a look at Trevor Siemian’s performance via Sayre Bedinger’s quarterback chart and his touchdown strike.

Looking at his quarterback chart, he had some really great throws. While we did not see him take any big chances, he did do a solid job in his throws. Most of them were within the first down marker.

He had two throws that were thrown away under pressure and Isaiah McKenzie dropped the other incompletion. Other than that, he was solid.

Now, the big question remains…

Is Trevor Siemian the starter?

It seemed like it was a tie for the starting quarterback job going into this preseason game. However, I believe that Trevor Siemian’s performance against the 49ers might have earned him the starting job.

It is still uncertain if Vance Joseph will name the starting quarterback before the Green Bay game. However, it seems to be clear to a lot that 2017 will be Trevor Siemian’s year once again.

The dress rehearsal game against the Packers will really tell us if the Denver Broncos will be ready to go for the regular season. But a great win. And a solid performance by Trevor Siemian.

However, I believe that this game really helped as far as separating the two quarterbacks. Trevor Siemian had quite the game. He went out there looking to win the job. It was the best performance I have seen from him in 2017.
