Von Miller not playing in preseason opener: Who benefits most?
DeMarcus Walker
The Denver Broncos’ second round pick out of Florida State is switching positions, or at least adding outside linebacker to his repertoire in light of the recent injuries at the position.
This game is a great chance for him to get in a live situation, make some mistakes, and really get after the quarterback.

One thing about Walker’s game at Florida State that was a bit more troubling than one would have liked was his slow get-off when playing the defensive end position.
It was extremely odd to see, because Walker racked up 16 sacks last season, and they didn’t happen by accident. When playing on the interior defensive line, he was much more successful.
The Broncos have been doing some significant work with Walker this offseason, and that was evidenced at training camp practices. In between reps, Walker was getting one-on-one tutoring from Von Miller and Shane Ray on his technique.
This game will be a huge opportunity for Walker to clean up some of his areas of weakness, and do what he does best, which is get after the quarterback.
Mitchell Trubisky, the new Bears’ quarterback who started for North Carolina in the ACC, should know first-hand just how disruptive Walker can be.
