Offensive Line issues resolved?

In case you missed the announcement from head coach Vance Joseph, the Broncos’ starting offensive line for this scrimmage is as follows:

LT: Garett Bolles

LG: Max Garcia

C: Connor McGovern

RG: Billy Turner

RT: Menelik Watson

This is a very interesting group, one that may include just two actual starters (Bolles, Watson) when all is said and done. At left guard, there will be a competition between Max Garcia and Allen Barbre for the starting left guard spot. It’s clear that Garcia has stepped up since Barbre was acquired in a trade, but we’ll see how he does in live action and a high pressure situation.

Connor McGovern has drawn rave reviews for his work at center this entire offseason. Matt Paradis is being eased back into work, but McGovern has given the Broncos confidence in their situation behind Paradis should anything happen.

Billy Turner is filling in for Ron Leary, who suffered a slight groin injury and is just being handled with caution. Turner’s emergence into the starting lineup over last year’s starter at right guard Michael Schofield is telling.

Watson will get the first crack at the right tackle position, and it seems Ty Sambrailo and Donald Stephenson are competing for the primary backup tackle spot.

For the first time in a long time, it feels like the Broncos actually have some depth on the offensive line, at least on the interior. We’ll see how things work out for the tackle spots, but Garett Bolles looks like a stud so far. This scrimmage will be a huge test for he and Menelik Watson.
