Philip Rivers, Quarterback, Los Angeles Chargers

Age:35

Contract: 4 yrs, $83.5 Million ($14 million due this year)

I know, but just hear me out here.

Trust me. It’s custom to not be a fan of anyone outside the Broncos. Yet sometimes there are those players who switch teams in their same division. Why not the infamous Rivers?

It’s hard to argue though that the Charger quarterback is consistent in his play and is a proven game changer year in and year out. Last year he threw for over 4,300 yards and 33 touchdowns with a very clean 87.9 passer rating.

Although Rivers is considered a public enemy, his veteran knowledge and leadership could be a key component to developing the next young quarterback, whether that is Paxton Lynch or Trevor Siemien.

The large price tag that comes with Rivers is something Denver would have to reconstruct  in order to make the deal work. His $14 million that  he’s due to make is more than Elway would want to pay for a quarterback since he was unwilling to pay Osweiler that last offseason that saw him jettison for Houston. If he could get him for $4 million less, then it would be in the cards.

The harder part may be getting Broncos Country to go along with it.

Trade Possibility: Moderately Likely
