Sheldon Richardson, Defensive Tackle, New York Jets

Age: 26

Contract: $8 million this season

Richardson and the Jets seem to be at a crossroads since Leonard Williams has become one of the hottest young interior lineman and Muhammed Wilkerson was given an $86 million contract that includes $53 million guaranteed. New York hopes to move the lineman at some point during the offseason, the only question is whether someone is willing to take a chance on the young talent.

Coming into the league in 2013, Richardson won Defensive Rookie of the Year and earned his first Pro Bowl nod in 2014, but the fact that he’s set to earn $8 million this year might make it difficult for the Jets to deal him.

Denver was in contact with the team late last year regarding Richardson but nothing came to fruition. That doesn’t mean nothing will happen.

If Elway really wanted him, he could wait another year and then get him at a discount price when he’s set to become a free agent in 2018. Denver could try to up the offer by including a middle or late round draft pick, along with a receiver from their young core (perhaps Bennie Fowler or Jordan Taylor)considering New York doesn’t have a true No. 1 pass catcher.

The pieces are there for this to happen, but it’s never that easy.

Trade possibility: Moderately Likely
