No need to worry Broncos fans. Just because Wade Phillips has departed doesn’t mean this defense isn’t going to be incredible. The No-Fly-Zone was out today and showing why they are still the best secondary in the league.

Twice Paxton Lynch made perfect throws to Demaryius Thomas, and twice a cornerback got his hand in there just enough to break up what would have been sure touchdowns. The first play was a deep-post route during a 7 on 7 drill. Lynch fired a laser 30-yards to the goal line that hit Thomas right between the numbers. This appeared to be a catch he still could have made, as the pass really coulnd’t have gone anywhere else. However, it appeared that Bradley Roby stepped in and got his hand in there just enough to break up a sure touchdown.

The second play was a goal line play— just a corner fade to the right side of the end zone. Lynch made a great touch throw, and Thomas got two hands on the ball, but Aqib Talib made a fantastic play on the ball late to break up yet another touchdown.

Make no mistake, this defense will be filthy again this year. With added beef up front, and a better offense, teams will be forced to throw into the No-Fly-Zone far more then they had to a year ago. Turnovers should be up this year for a defense that feasts on just the slightest mistakes.
