5. Situational Execution

Training camp is fun for a number of reasons. We all love watching one on one battles between the receivers and defensive backs, or the offensive linemen and pass rushers, but there’s one thing I love watching more than anything else:

Situational execution.

The Broncos — and every other team in the league, I’m sure — practice situational football. They go through specific down-and-distance situations, goal-to-go situations, two-minute drill, one-minute drill, and they prepare with varying numbers of timeouts or makeshift penalties.

It’s really fun to watch, because you get to see the team work through high pressure situations in real-time, and the pace of practice really picks up.

The Broncos have a number of high-pressure situations that determined the outcome of games last season. Third down execution, red zone execution, and so many others will be key areas of focus at this year’s training camp practices.
