10 reasons the Denver Broncos will win Super Bowl 52
2. Improved Defensive Line
By Tylor Walden, Editor
If there is anything that the Denver Broncos needed to improve on in a big way (other than offensive line), it is the defensive line. With the loss of Malik Jackson during free agency last offseason and Vance Walker missing the season with an ACL injury, the run defense suffered in a big way. Derek Wolfe still had a solid campaign. Jared Crick and Sylvester Williams were a different story.
The Denver Broncos decided to let Sylvester Williams walk in free agency. Perhaps the biggest underrated moves the team made was on the defensive line. The team signed Domata Peko via free agency after he spent over a decade with the Cincinnati Bengals. Another move that was made was for Zach Kerr, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts. With both men signed, they are most likely going to take over for Sly and be opposite of Derek Wolfe.
Having both Peko and Kerr signed will immensely help Derek Wolfe and the linebackers. The Denver Broncos run defense was one of the worse that I have seen in a long time. Improving the run defense should help the Broncos win another game or two this season.
The biggest thing about the run defense improving is that if the front of the line can do their jobs and force the offense into a third and long situation, then the quarterback will be forced to throw. And the Broncos linebackers excel at getting to the quarterback. With Von Miller, Shane Ray, and Shaquil Barrett at the edge rusher positions, look for them to find the quarterbacks at will.
Stop the run, get more pressure on the quarterback. I think the improvement on the defensive line could help lead the Denver Broncos back to the Super Bowl and give them a chance to win their fourth title in franchise history.
