Peyton Manning is hosting the 2017 ESPY awards, and he finished up his opening monologue with an epic joke about the Atlanta Falcons…

Peyton Manning has the art of hosting an awards show down to a science. At the 2017 ESPY Awards, he was honored not only with hosting the entire show, but coming up with an epic opening monologue, and he delivered one for the ages.

We already looked at Manning’s incredible burn of Kevin Durant and his departure from the Oklahoma City Thunder to join the best team in basketball.

Now, Manning took a great jab at a team in the sport he played.

The Atlanta Falcons are obviously infamous now for their debacle in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl after holding a 28-3 lead. Manning expressed his positivity for the future of the Falcons’ franchise, and then dropped this bomb:

I did not see that one coming.

Manning implores the Falcons to make sure they pay attention to the whole ESPY awards show, and not to check out three quarters of the way through.

If he were holding a microphone, he could have dropped it at that point.

Some in the crowd don’t appear to be laughing after Manning’s joke, just wondering to themselves, Did he really just say that?

Perhaps Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter will ask Manning to rescind his offensive joke…

There will be plenty more where that came from with Manning’s performance at the ESPYs. He’s blowing up the internet, and early opinions on his abilities as a host are very positive.

Not that anyone should be surprised. When the Sheriff is in charge, things get done.
