New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman tried to clown on Peyton Manning at the 2017 ESPY Awards. It was clever, but a failure…

The rivalry between the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos doesn’t stop during the offseason. As Peyton Manning was brilliantly hosting the 2017 ESPY Awards, Patriots receiver Julian Edelman tried to slide in as he was accepting an award and insert a little comedy.

That’s a great one, Julian!

As everyone was laughing and having a good old time, someone thought, Hey…what happened the last time Manning faced off against the Patriots outdoors?

So, I guess in the end, the joke is on Edelman. Or not.

I mean, it’s all in good fun, but of course, with both players being part of the last two teams to win a title in the NFL, it’s fair game for them to joke back and forth with each other.

The joke maybe hits a little close to home for Manning, who was obviously known for his inability to play at a high level in cold weather games.

However, with the Broncos, Manning excelled in January against the Patriots, winning two AFC Championship games. Edelman won’t soon forget those, but he’s got his rings so he’s feeling pretty good about himself these days.

Edelman is a fantastic receiver, and the Patriots are coming off of one of the most dominant offensive seasons in recent memory.

They only scored 16 points against the Broncos this past season.

The Broncos are also the only team in the NFL Tom Brady has a losing record against in his NFL career.

Perhaps next time around, Edelman will re-think his strategy.
