Former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning absolutely roasted Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant at the ESPYs…

This will be news to absolutely no one, but Peyton Manning is absolutely hilarious. He’s done a wide variety of commercials, music videos, and other acting jobs where he’s been able to show off the side of him that has inarguably contributed to his Hall of Fame football career.

Manning is as marketable as any professional athlete, and ESPN deciding to have him host this year’s ESPY Awards show was absolutely brilliant.

Manning, as anyone would have reasonably expected, absolutely killed the opening monologue, which is typically filled with pretty bold jokes dealing with the last year in the sports world. One joke in particular that hit close to home (for some) was Manning’s joke about Kevin Durant…

Everyone in the crowd had a good laugh about it, except of course for Durant. There’s been discussion now that perhaps Durant was in on the joke, which would make sense. If he’s that uptight about it, he probably really believes deep down inside that it wasn’t the right thing to do.

But Durant now has an NBA title, and the Thunder still don’t. So, who cares if jokes are made about it? It won’t be old until it’s old.

If you don’t know the story because you hate professional basketball, Kevin Durant is — like Manning — an MVP of his sport. He played his whole career to this point with the Oklahoma City Thunder (formerly Seattle Supersonics) and bolted as a free agent after this past season to join what was already the best team in the NBA.

Manning’s joke was great — perfectly timed, and in good taste.

Hopefully Durant was in on it and is just putting on a show, otherwise he’s just being a big baby.
