Former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning is set to host the annual ESPY awards show with ESPN. History tells us he’ll be great…

We all know the type of magnetic personality Peyton Manning is. He’s always been the type of guy that commands a crowd when he speaks, and at the 2017 ESPY awards, he will be the center of attention as this year’s host.

Here are a couple other clips I love of Manning putting on his entertainer hat:

It certainly seems like there’s nothing Peyton Manning can’t do, so I’ll be intrigued to see what he has up his sleeves for hosting the ESPY awards. It’s a great platform for him to sort of show his skills as an entertainer, and the opening roast of fellow professional athletes is always comedic gold.

We’ve seen plenty of Manning over the past year, but it was definitely an odd year in football without him. The NFL certainly benefit greatly from the weekly Peyton Manning show, even in his final season where he clearly wasn’t the same player he once was.

The Broncos probably won’t have much of a presence at this year’s ESPYs after being up for Best Team in 2015/16 following their Super Bowl run.

They didn’t take that award home, but it was a season to remember for both Manning and the Broncos. For the first time in his career, it was Manning who was being carried to victory, not necessarily him having to do everything. It’s remarkable to me that arguably the greatest quarterback this league has ever seen won just two titles, and competed for four.

Next: Will John Elway's contract get done?

That goes to show how tough the NFL is in general, but Manning was consistently fighting to keep his team alive and sometimes, to a fault.

You can watch the 25th annual ESPYs on Wednesday, July 12, at 8 p.m. ET at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on ABC or through the Watch ESPN live stream.
