Kasim Edebali

Age: 27 – Contract: 1 year ($1,200,000 cap hit)

The Denver Broncos lost last year’s special teams snap leader Dekoda Watson to the San Francisco 49ers, and perhaps made one of their most underrated offseason moves to replace him.

They invested $1.2 million in former New Orleans Saints special teams ace and reserve pass rusher Kasim Edebali.

Edebali is a high effort, high intensity player that can eat up snaps for a special teams unit. He was among the Saints’ leaders in that category over the past three seasons, and also proved himself worthy of additional responsibilities defensively.

The Broncos are obviously pretty deep when it comes to the outside linebacker position, but Edebali will have a very diverse role.

Clearly, he was brought in to be a top special teams player. Brock Olivo talked early in the offseason about every team having a ‘list’ of players they would want to have on their unit, and the price the Broncos paid to get Edebali combined with the need they have for a special teamer with his skills is pretty telling.
