2016 is last year and the Denver Broncos look to turn their sights back to their winning ways capturing a possible divisional title and playoff berth.

There are five players on the current roster poised to have important roles heading into the 2017 season. Offensively the Denver Broncos appear ready to regain the form from two years ago. All engines must work together for them to be well tuned machine. It appears areas are fixed and headed to the right direction.

John Elway spent free agency upgrading the offensive line. Formally of the Dallas Cowboys, Ronald Leary saw the Broncos as a fit signing a well deserved contract. Also ex-Oakland Raider tackle Menelik Watson joined the Broncos to solidify the team’s weakest position. Yet, after a slew of swing tackles on the roster the franchise did not address a true left tackle to block the blindside of either Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch.

DeMarcus Ware’s lasting impact on the pass rush was felt by Von Miller, Shane Ray and Shaquille Barrett. There can only be one player chosen as an important cog in 2017. The production for Miller will be there from start to finish. To set the pass rush above others again the team need Ray and Barrett to seize their moment.

Lastly, the running game needs to get going. On paper, the Denver Broncos added more depth with the addition of Jamaal Charles and the young buck Devontae Booker ready to leap this year. CJ Anderson is a terrific second half running back, but has to prove his engine is ready to strike the opposing linebacker pins out.

Here are the top five important players heading into this season.
