In a short time, Denver Broncos fullback Andy “The Punisher” Janovich fought for every yard starting with his first carry in 2016.

According to Pro Football Focus, the leader of all NFL fullbacks in yards after contact is none other than Denver Broncos fullback Andy Janovich. His 6.5 yards after contact is 2.2 yards better than the next player. Janovich is a fighter and tough competitor to earn every yard.

In his days at the University of Nebraska, Janovich was a walk-on and proved to be versatile in the offense. He became a vital part of the offense for the Cornhuskers once injuries piled up at running back. It was his versatility the Broncos saw early in the season and in training camp. Janovich made his presence felt on the first touchdown of his career. Remember this video?

Better yet, here is college highlights to show yards after contact started as a Cornhusker.

In Carolina Panthers Opening Day game, Janovich neutralized linebackers Luke Keuchly and Thomas Davis clearing a path for CJ Anderson. Janovich became an intriguing option for the passing game on play action. The Panthers were not expecting fullback trap on his touchdown. In every phase of the game for Janovich, he fights for every yard in all opportunities given.

It’s understandable to see why Janovich leads in yards after contact. Every carry presents success for Denver Broncos offense. Due to an arm/hand injury, Janovich’s impact in the offense became known. When a run was called there would be no breathing room for CJ Anderson or Devontae Booker.

Furthermore, this season Broncos’ coaches must find roles for Janovich to be in the running game. Janovich will claw for every yard in the shotgun or under center. His presence alone in the offense gives hope for the running game.

Lastly, if Janovich led in yards after contact as a rookie for a fullback, then there is no telling the impact he makes in 2017. He punishes linebackers as a runner or blocker and will continue to do so this season. A healthy Janovich alone means improvement in the offense.
