With the lack of experienced tight ends on the Baltimore Ravens roster, could John Elway and the Denver Broncos be involved in a trade this summer?

The Baltimore Ravens are in a tough spot. Their tight end Darren Waller has just been suspended for a year for violating the NFL Substance Abuse policy. Baltimore is thin at the tight end position with injuries. Could the Denver Broncos be in play for the Ravens as far as a trade partner?

If you look at the Denver Broncos situation at tight end, they have A.J. Derby, Jeff Heuerman, Virgil Green, and Jake Butt. Four tight ends is a good spot to be in. However, Jake Butt most likely will not be ready until around halfway through the season. Derby was a valuable third down target for Trevor Siemian last season. Heuerman saw his first game action in 2016 after missing all of 2015 with an ACL injury.

Virgil Green is in the final year of his three year contract that he signed back in 2014. Elway opted to go with Green and let Julius Thomas walk that offseason. There is one question. Will Denver be willing to stick with possibly two tight ends for the time being?

If John Elway is willing to gamble on A.J. Derby and Jeff Heuerman, Virgil Green would make sense as a possible trade piece for Baltimore. There is no doubt Baltimore could look at other options. However, having a veteran like Green could really help the Ravens.

Perhaps the Ravens have plenty of a position that the Broncos could use more of. Either that or a draft pick would make sense. Could John Elway talk to Ozzie Newsome?

All I will say is pay close attention to the Ravens. There could be a possibility of a trade with them.
