5. Bennie Fowler, Wide Receiver

Bennie Fowler has been with the Broncos since 2014, when he signed on as an undrafted free agent.

After making the team in 2015, Fowler made one of the signature plays of the season, catching Peyton Manning’s final NFL pass in Super Bowl 50 and helping put the Broncos up for good.

Fowler has exceptional deep speed and overall athleticism, and he seemed to really be putting it all together at times last year when he would see the field. He’s also a very solid special teams player and the Broncos signed him to an exclusive rights free agent contract this offseason.

Next year, he’ll be a restricted free agent, so he’s in a similar boat contractually as Shaquil Barrett.

I think any trade situation involving Fowler would be similar to that of Jordan Taylor. The Broncos know they have a good player here, so they’re not just going to dump him for nothing. They would need to get a nice return, meaning a pretty decent draft pick or a player that can contribute at least rotationally and on special teams.

Otherwise, Fowler stands a pretty good chance of making the final roster…
