Let me again preface this by saying, by no means am I suggesting that any of these players ‘has to go’. There would be a high demand for Barrett if teams knew he was available, and I think for the right price, the Broncos might part with the young edge player.

Shane Ray is entering his third NFL season, Barrett his fourth. Barrett is under team control as a restricted free agent this year, and the Broncos have that option again next year according to Spotrac.com.

With his contract a non-issue, it might not be wise for the Broncos to just sell Barrett for nothing, so if he is traded, the Broncos should actually be getting some really good value. Barrett would start for a number of other teams in the league, but for the Broncos, he’s a top reserve.

After racking up 5.5 sacks in 2015, he had just 1.5 sacks last season and the Broncos are obviously hoping he can get back on track and provide even more production in terms of finishing plays with sacks.

If the Broncos are selling on Barrett, some team would get a steal of a talent with a very team-friendly contract situation this year and next.
