Last season was filled with controversy and distraction for Brandon Marshall, this season he hopes to focus on the little things and dominate again.
2016 was a year that Brandon Marshall wishes he could have back in terms of doing certain things differently. Marshall’s level of play wasn’t on par with what Broncos fans and the coaching staff was used to seeing from him, especially coverage wise.
Marshall noted that the off-season between last year and this year was notably different. “It’s way different. Usually, this time of year, I am just watching- well, for the last two years I was. Just being out there and being able to execute and getting my feet and legs up under me, feels good. I did a lot of hard training this off-season and came back and continued that. I feel like i’m playing really well right now” Marshall said.
Last off-season Marshall missed OTA’s while waiting for a contract extension. This impacted him in more ways than one on the field.
"“When I came into training camp, I felt a difference. I wasn’t in as great as shape as I usually was. I think some of that goes to the training I was doing. I was doing a specific training for four years straight and it got redundant. Last year, I did it again, and I was like, ‘Man, this is getting old.’ Maybe I wasn’t putting everything into it because mentally I thought it was getting old. – Brandon Marshall on last off-season (Via Denver Broncos PR)"
Marshall decided to switch things up and find new ways to feel refreshed, and that he did. “I’ve been focusing a lot on single-leg exercises. You’re rarely on two legs when you play football. You’re rarely stagnant.”
Working on single-leg exercises and plyo-metrics have helped Marshall find strength in his legs and hamstring which was bothersome to him last season.
In 2017, Marshall not only plans to be refreshed, but also hopes to have career bests across the entire board. “I’m definitely looking at careers bests for everything” he said. “I think some of the things that [Defensive Coordinator] Joe Woods has added to the defense will allow me to do it in my position” Marshall spoke of Woods scheme.
Brandon Marshall’s Thoughts On The QB Competition:
The seemingly impossible narrative to dodge, even for defensive players, is the question regarding the Broncos current competition at quarterback. Marshall gave his take on it.
"“They’re competing. They have a new offense. They’re still learning. [Offensive Coordinator] Mike McCoy has brought a lot of juice to the offense. I love the offense, personally. Paxton has that arm you dream of. Siemian has the accuracy and the mind that you dream of. It’s going to be a good battle, so we’ll see.” – Brandon Marshall on the QB battle between Paxton Lynch and Trevor Siemian (Via Denver Broncos PR)"
As much as the media is looking for a player to give their initial favorite in the competition, it appears as if the Broncos PR staff has trained the players well in how to answer trick questions.

I personally am looking to see Marshall return to his normal self and play like one of the best linebackers in the NFL, period!
