The Denver Broncos made a splash move, signing former Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, who said he always wanted to play for Denver…
The Denver Broncos and new running back Jamaal Charles don’t play the Kansas City Chiefs until a Monday Night Football showdown in week eight, but it’s safe to say that game will be circled on the calendar for Charles.
Charles, one of the most explosive running backs in the history of the NFL and thorn in the side of the Denver Broncos, has now joined John Elway’s crew in pursuit of a title. This will sting for Chiefs fans, but it’s something he said he’s always wanted to do…
Jamaal Charles: "I always wanted to play for Denver. Growing up, John Elway was one of my favorite players."

Jamaal Charles on if it'll be difficult to play for #Broncos: "Nope."

If you read between the lines of some of Charles’ comments, this move was a little personal. He talked about being released from the team he gave so much to:
Charles on being released by Chiefs: "It's behind me. ... They say it's a business, but it's personal as well. It is what is."

Jamaal Charles: "I'm just happy I get to play [the Chiefs] twice a year."

After the Chiefs released Charles earlier this offseason, there was an expected delay in his market due to the health of his knee. Obviously a major part of his visit to Denver today was to get a medical checkup and see if his knee was ready for football activities.
There’s no reason for the Broncos to rush Charles back into activity, and they likely won’t. He’ll continue to receive treatment and take his preparation lightly until training camp.
Charles knew he probably wasn’t going to get a big-money deal on the open market, especially after seeing what Adrian Peterson just got. But for him, it isn’t about the money anyway…
Charles: "It's not about the money. I want to prove people wrong."

Those people, in case you have missed it up to this point, are the Kansas City Chiefs. Here’s hoping Charles can prove them wrong in a big way in 2017.
