The Denver Broncos have decided to draft Demarcus Walker with their second round draft pick. How does he impact the depth chart?

John Elway and the Denver Broncos decided to focus in on the defense for the second round. They have selected Demarcus Walker out of Florida State.

Seeing as how the team needed help on the defensive line, it makes sense to draft someone to work on the defensive line.

He is a player that will make plays right away. However, his size will limit him early on in his career. Coming in at 280 pounds, it is not ideal for a defensive end.

He did record 16 sacks during his senior year at Florida State. Which is very impressive. And the fact that he accomplished that in one season… incredible.

So, how much of an impact will Demarcus Walker make for the Denver Broncos in regards to their depth chart?

I think he will mostly be used in certain situations to start off. I do not think he starts right away. But I do believe he and Derek Wolfe will be a great tandem once he can get his feet wet in the NFL.

This pick could also put Adam Gotsis on notice. There is no doubt that these two players will be competing for playing time.

However, with the pass rushing abilities, Walker will have a edge on Gotsis. So, to answer the question, how much of an impact will Walker make?

I think he will make that impact. But it will not be right away. I think it will take him about a year before he becomes a starter for the Denver Broncos.

But once that year passes, he could be the biggest player for the team. Who knows, he could become a steal. Only time will tell.
