Denver Broncos reportedly showing interest in Caleb Brantley
After a terrible pre-draft decision, Caleb Brantley is looking at a huge fall. Could the Denver Broncos scoop him up later in the draft?
After a report that Florida defensive lineman Caleb Brantley reacted to being pushed by a woman by punching her in the face, more details emerged from eye witnesses that have potentially prevented Brantley from being undrafted all together.
Brantley was being investigated for a misdemeanor battery complaint and the latest news is that the attorneys working for the complainant have attempted to quickly settle the case. Perhaps this new eye-witness account is part of the reason why…
This has obviously caused teams to go back and do research, including the Denver Broncos, who might be reconsidering taking Brantley off their board all together…
The Denver Broncos currently have two third round selections (82nd overall and 101st overall) and would likely look at taking Brantley with one of those two picks. They have been looking for ways to upgrade their defensive line this offseason, and have failed in doing so with their top targets (Earl Mitchell and Calais Campbell).

Getting Brantley — a first round prospect on the field — in the third round would be a steal at least in terms of his on-field value, but teams have to consider the off-field impact and whether or not this type of behavior from him is something he’s prone to repeat moving forward.
The Broncos have shown a willingness to take some character risks early in the draft in the past, because they believe they have the type of locker room atmosphere to help these young men moving forward and develop them not only on the field but off of it.
Brantley would certainly have no shortage of young mentors in Denver, and would be an intriguing day two selection.
