Impact of Marshawn Lynch to the Oakland Raiders for Denver Broncos
By Dean Worley
After a little more than a year in retirement, Marshawn Lynch has decided to be “Beast Mode” once again, now with the Oakland Raiders…
All offseason long it had been speculated that Marshawn Lynch was eying a return to the league, and he’s now officially a member of the Oakland Raiders.
Lynch grew up in the crime-ridden area of Oakland where distractions are at its highest. Lynch played football at Oakland Tech High School where he started gaining recognition for making it nearly impossible for the opposing team to bring him down.
Lynch then attended the University of California-Berkeley where he broke rushing records including the most 100 yard games with 17. He then decided to enter the 2007 NFL Draft where he was taken by Buffalo 12th overall.
After a few disappointing seasons with the Bills, Lynch was traded to Seattle where he became “Beast Mode”.
The Broncos will have to try to stop Lynch two times a year. Denver had a struggling run defense last season that ranked in the bottom 10. Oakland, which has a big, strong offensive line, will look to pound Denver’s defense like they did last season.
However, Denver has beefed up its defensive line by adding Domata Peko, Zach Kerr, and Bobby Richardson.
It is very likely that Denver will draft a run-stopper or two who will help the defense stay at the elite level it was the past couple of seasons. They need to do whatever they can, because the most potent offense in the AFC West just added an element of power and toughness that didn’t exist before today.
