Denver Broncos first round options in the 2017 NFL Draft
Via staff writer Cameron Parker:
It is time to upgrade the offense through the NFL Draft. Christian McCaffrey is one of a few players to provide instant punch to a side of a ball desperate for improvement. McCaffrey does all the things a running back must do to be successful. McCaffrey ran routes at the Combine and the Stanford pro day proving he is a Swiss army knife and jack-off-all-trades.
There is no pressing need at the position on the Denver Broncos current roster; however, running back is one of a few positions deep this year in the draft. It is likely the Broncos add one, if not two of them in the draft in two weeks. A reunion of a McCaffrey in Denver is hard to pass up.
McCaffrey’s incredible patience parallels Pittsburgh Steelers running back LeVeon Bell. Talent to stop and survey a defense like a quarterback is not teachable and a trait very few possess. McCaffrey’s telepathic running ability in the open field or between the tackles makes him an instant star at the next level. Place him in an offense orchestrated by two offensive juggernaut coaches in Mike McCoy and Bill Musgrave, the Broncos will improve just by drafting McCaffrey.
For those clamoring to draft McCaffrey, it will be a patient process. There are at least five or six teams ahead of the Broncos at pick 20 that might draft the Stanford Cardinal. Carolina Panthers (8th pick), Philadelphia Eagles (14th pick), Indianapolis Colts (15th pick), Washington Redskins (17th pick) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (19th pick) all could vie for McCaffrey’s services.
Yet McCaffrey stated he wants to be a Denver Bronco if he slides…
“He let the Broncos know that if he’s still around by then, he wants that No. 20 draft slot,” Mike Klis stated in his biggest splash article on 9News.com.
