After future Hall of Famer Demarcus Ware retired, the Denver Broncos were left without Ware’s presence, but Shane Ray is on the prowl and ready to work…

Shane Ray was a pivotal piece to the Broncos defense last season when DeMarcus Ware broke his forearm. As the Broncos finished their Tuesday workouts, Von Miller met with the media.

With Ware retiring, the Broncos have an immediate void to fill off of the edge. On the roster currently the Broncos have Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett.

Shane Ray is the early favorite to start in place of Ware, but Barrett has proven he can be just as effective. Von Miller sang praises for the both of them.

"You can’t really just fill that void. You just have to modify the team and move on. Other leaders will step up. It gives Shane Ray and Shaq Barrett more opportunities. It gives all of those other guys more opportunities to go out and try and do the same stuff. You can’t really just fill a void. You can modify a team.”– Von Miller on replacing DeMarcus Ware"

Reporters asked Miller if Shane Ray is prepared for a larger role. “Shane has been ready,” Miller responded. “Shane has been ready for a long time. Shaq has been ready as well. I’m looking forward to those guys. Shane being a starter from day one, I think that will definitely help his game.”

During the Broncos’ 2015 Super Bowl run, the NFL world found out that the Broncos were Pass Rush University. For example, Miller got shaken up during the Cleveland Browns game and Ware battled a back injury, and we saw both Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett step up.

Both pass rushers got to opposing quarterbacks. Ray accounted for four sacks and Barrett racked up 5.5 sacks in limited snaps.

In 2016, Ray was more involved which saw him account for 8 sacks in comparison to Barrett’s 1.5. There is no question Denver has depth off the edge.

What are your thoughts Broncos Country? Are you pleased with Denver’s depth for rushing the quarterback?
